Cornelder de Moçambique, the terminal operator of the Port of Beira in Mozambique, was pleased to receive Greta, Mozambique´s first maritime cabotage vessel in almost 30 years. She berthed at the Port of Beira at approximately 4PM this Tuesday bringing over 20 containers to the city of Beira, and will proceed to her final destination, Pemba, by Wednesday, July 22nd. Greta measures almost 101 meters over all in length and 15.45 meters in width and boasts of a capacity of 4470 DWT and a draught of 4.3 meters.
It should be noted that the national maritime cabotage service was recently relaunched by the President of the Republic, in Maputo. This new service is a firm bet by the Government of Mozambique and private sector partners with a view to reducing transport costs using this route, which is par excellence a motorway of the sea in a country that has the privilege of having more than 2,500 km of coast.
